Can you believe Christmas is only 25 days away!? I feel like I have so much to do still. I’ve gotten better over the years at preparing for holidays and getting my shopping done. I wasn’t always that way though. I once did all my shopping on Christmas Eve (Yikes!). Surprisingly, it wasn’t as bad as it sounds but I wouldn’t do that again.
While holidays can be a lot of fun, they can also be stressful. From menu planning to preparing a house for guests to last minute shopping, the tasks can feel never-ending. One of my favorite ways to reduce stress during a hectic holiday season is by using essential oils.

Lavender is one of the most popular essential oils for a reason. It’s calming and smells wonderful. After a long day, diffuse lavender before bedtime to help get a good night’s sleep. Try adding 3 drops to one teaspoon of carrier oil, and massage onto skin.

Geranium has a fresh, sweet aroma. Like lavender, it is a calming oil. It can be helpful with anxiety and depression. Try diffusing lavender and geranium during times of stress.
Petitgrain has a fresh, sweet, yet tart with a subtle floral and woody aroma. It is uplifting, calming, and balancing. Try using it with a personal aromatherapy inhaler during times of stress and anxiety.
Clary Sage has a distinctive herbaceous, earthy, slightly floral scent. It blends really well with chamomile and lavender if you’re not too keen on its aroma alone. Clary sage has a high amount (60-70%) of a calming ester (Linalyl Acetate), making it a must-have oil if you’re trying to combat stress. Try diffusing with chamomile and lavender.
Chamomile tea has long been used to calm the nerves and promote sleep. However, the essential oil is much more fragrant and potent. It has many uses but is especially helpful to reduce worry, tension and insomnia. Try diffusing with lavender for a good night’s sleep.
Relax (Plant Therapy Blend)
Relax is a blend of oils that promote a relaxed state of mind. Try making a roller bottle blend (or purchase one already made from PT) using a 10 mL bottle and 6 drops of Relax oil. Apply to pulse points during the day when needed. Before bedtime, try applying to soles of feet to help with sleep.
Tension Relief (Plant Therapy Blend)
Stress and worry often cause tension in the neck and head area. Add 8 drops in 2 teaspoons of carrier oil, and gently massage onto neck and temples. Note: this blend is not suitable for kids, try Tension Tamer instead for your little ones.
